Chapter 32.2 – Second Layer of Sockpuppet Exposed (2/3)

When they arrived at a clean farmhouse, the Zhao siblings plucked the feathers off the chicken and searched for firewood.
After Yin Yiliu took out the cauldron she had salvaged from Carrefour from her space, Jin Yang picked her up and went to the yard inside.

It took a whole bucket of water to wash away the dirty blood from the little rabbit.
The little foot that had stepped on smelly poop was gently rubbed in Jin Yang’s palms.
After washing it several times to ensure it smelled nice again, he took a small blanket to wipe the little rabbit’s fur-fur. 1

Every time Yin Yiliu took a bath, her fluffy fur would stick to her body when it got wet, which made her look a little funny.
The man behind her gently wiped her fur and ears.

The itchy sensation on her ears made the little rabbit tremble, and she rubbed her face in shame.

How embarrassing!

The firewood Zhao Sihui had found from the backyard was too damp to use, so Zhao Qiyang dismantled the wooden stools in the house, mumbling “Sorry, sorry,” while doing so.

After they started the fire, Zhao Qiyang boiled the corn cobs that he had taken from the roadside fields, and then he and his sister prepared the chicken that Yin Yiliu had killed.

When the water on Yin Yiliu’s body had dried half way, she hopped in front of the Zhao siblings, covered in the blanket Jin Yang had wrapped her in.
The black wolf sat in front of the fire with its tail dangling, staring intently at the giant chicken that was being roasted.

As she stood near the fire, the damp fur on the little rabbit’s body gradually dried and fluffed up.
She narrowed her eyes in comfort and checked on the progress of the cooking from time to time.

The mutated chicken was large in size, reaching the height of human hip level and nearly as big as a calf.
Even after plucking its feathers and cleaning its insides, the cut-out meat weighed over fifty kilogrammes.
Its thighs were particularly heavy.

Zhao Sihui was experienced in cooking.
As she turned the chicken, she sprinkled seasonings on the roasted brown meat.
These were all taken from Yin Yiliu’s space, which came in handy at this time.

The giant chicken, which was constantly dripping grease into the fire and causing crackling small sparks, looked very tempting.

There was a faint shade of orange on Jin Yang’s face due to the fire, which made his eagle eyes look even more dazzling than before.
With slightly pursed lips and straight nose, he was like a figure walking out of a painting.
Yin Yiliu’s eyes couldn’t help but be drawn to him.

After Zhao Qiyang finished roasting the chicken drumstick that was bigger than his face, he handed it to his sister who was sitting beside him.
Zhao Sihui motioned for him to give it to Jin Yang first.

The black pup wagged its tail faster and swallowed hard as it watched the drumstick being passed around.
It knew that it wasn’t allowed to eat these humans’ food.
It had been previously told that it had to hunt for its own food.

But it was starving and craved for the chicken meat.

Jin Yang simply ripped off the juiciest and most tender part on the thigh before passing the whole drumstick to Zhao Sihui, the only woman in the team, to eat first.

Zhao Sihui cast a glance at the man who was feeding the little rabbit.
After some hesitation, she lowered her head and began eating.
The aroma of the roasted meat was irresistible.

She ate with gusto, not with the grace of a dainty beauty.
One could even say that she looked a little greedy, licking the dripping oil stains on her fingertips with the tip of her tongue.

Yin Yiliu was well taken care of by Jin Yang.
When she looked at the grease that was sliding down the man’s fair and slender fingers, she felt a rush of inexplicable heat on her face and quickly moved her gaze away.

Jin Yang tore the meat into tiny pieces so that the little rabbit could eat each piece in one bite.
The little rabbit had a small body and a small stomach.
After she had finished eating, only then did Jin Yang pick up his own portion and start eating.

Even though he was gnawing at the meat on a twig, the scene of him eating was still very pleasing to the eyes.

After they had enough of the meat, Zhao Sihui took out the corn from the pot.
She broke the giant corn into a few pieces so it was easier to eat.

And the remaining half of the mutated chicken that was only partially cooked was given to the little wolf with Jin Yang’s permission.

These meats would go bad quickly if they couldn’t finish them anyway.
Plus, although they had instructed the pup to prey for its own food, there were really no other animals along their way.
They shouldn’t let it starve.

The pup had only eaten raw meat in its entire life so this was the first time it ate roasted meat, which tasted so good that it couldn’t care about anything else, stuffing the remaining half of the chicken into its stomach.

After it finished eating, the pup slowly walked to the corner of the yard while swaying its tail and lay down behind the door, very responsibly taking up the duty of guarding the door.

When Jin Yang received the corn, as usual, he fed Yin Yiliu first.
The rabbit had a small appetite.
After barely eating a few of the big and fragrant corn kernels, her belly already grew round.

Her little bunny teeth left a shallow bite mark on the corn kernel as she finally accepted the fact that she couldn’t eat anymore.
She could only tilt and shake her head, indicating that she was done eating.

Then she watched with a stunned expression on her face as Jin Yang ate the kernel directly from the small bite mark without hesitation.
Her bunny face hidden beneath the fur, became hot immediately.

Didn’t the book say that Villain Boss Jin Yang was a clean freak and would never eat food touched by others?!

After dinner, Zhao Qiyang rubbed his belly and lay down lazily, squinting his eyes at the fire in the middle of the courtyard, relishing in this rare moment of leisure.

Suddenly, the teenager sighed and said, “Thinking about the good old days, I really regretted talking back to Mom that day and making her dizzy from anger.”

“”

Zhao Sihui’s corn breaking hands slowed down as she lowered her head without saying anything.

Zhao Qiyang stared at the shining stars in the sky.
Then, he sniffled and covered his eyes with his hand.
When he took his hand away after a while, his eyes were red.
He turned to face his sister and said, a little emotionally, “Sis, you’re my only family left.
I will take care of you no matter where we go.”

Zhao Sihui couldn’t help but let out a slight smile.
“Stop being so mushy.”

She looked at Jin Yang who was sitting in the wheelchair, and suddenly became very curious.
This man always looked indifferent as if he didn’t care about anything other than the rabbit in his arms.
What about his family?

The words had already left her mouth before she realized that it was a little out of line.
If his family members had passed away due to the apocalypse, wouldn’t that expose the wound in his heart?

She hadn’t expected Jin Yang to respond at all, but he did.
“I have a younger sister,” the man said as he gently stroked the rabbit’s head.

“Younger sister?” Zhao Qiyang straightened up, “Then why isn’t she with you, Big Bro Jin?”

A face with a slight resemblance to him appeared in Jin Yang’s mind, and he said in a deep voice, “She was studying for her PhD in City B.”

Zhao Sihui nodded.
Certain important courses would indeed require students to return home late.
When she saw that her brother still had questions to ask, she hurriedly grabbed his hand for him to shut up.

Yin Yiliu recalled overhearing Jin Yang talking on the phone with his sister on the first day of the apocalypse, when she had just transmigrated to the Jin family villa.

Why was Jin Yang all alone when he appeared later in the novel? Judging from their conversation, he appeared to have a good relationship with his sister.
It was unreasonable that he didn’t go look for her.

Jin Yang was already in City B in the later stages of the apocalypse when he clashed with the main lead’s team.
Why didn’t he search for his sister? Perhaps his sister had already faced danger at the time? And perhaps it had something to do with the main leads?

Yin Yiliu was a little worried, secretly thinking about how to speed up the journey to City B.
