Medical Nutrition Therapy
The complexities of optimum nutritional care of older adults are ever changing. Tried and true older approaches combined with newer methodologies may provide optimal mixes for interventions. Conditions of older adults, interventions, screening mechanisms, brain health and alterations of taste in the aging will be addressed, with particular attention to aging taste receptors in the tongue, gut, pancreas and brain and their hormonal involvement in aging taste perception.Planned with The Academy Committee for Professional Development
Identify specific conditions of older adults that greatly impact nutritional care
Demonstrate and implement screening mechanisms specifically designed for the aging
Apply strategies that address the effects of aging taste receptors on taste perception, food selection, health or disease and quality of life.
