Cancer survivors now represent a significant portion of oncology care provided by dietetic professionals. Evidence to support medical nutrition therapy/ nutrition care planning in this population is mounting and suggests diet choices do influence prognosis and/or risk for co-morbidity. Yet, in some areas, such as weight management, the data are evolving and seem to support the need to include body composition assessment as a standard component of nutrition assessment to inform on best practices in this population. Finally, despite significant evidence, efforts to disseminate the research to inform on clinical practice have been limited. Dietetic professionals can play a critical role in filling this gap. Planned with The Academy Committee for Professional Development
