Access to obesity care is influenced by many factors including provider bias, insurance coverage and payment to providers among others. This session will provide an overview of collaborative efforts to advocate for legislation and policies that increase access to effective treatment options in a variety of settings with extensive opportunity for discussion with attendees. Planned with The Legislative and Public Policy Committee, and the Obesity Care Continuum

Characterize the impact of provider bias on the delivery of obesity care

Describe barriers to accessing obesity treatment and give examples of advocacy strategies underway to improve the care continuum

Explain the rationale and importance of efforts to establish an interdisciplinary certification for obesity care
