Current evidence-based research supports the use of (Single-serving portion-sized meals) SSPSM to control portions, reduce energy intake and promote weight loss in overweight adults. This session will present the benefits and limitations of using SSPSM as a strategy during weight management and demonstrate creative ways to improve compliance, increase nutrition knowledge and improve nutrient intake as clients transition from the use of SSPSM to self-prepared meals.

Identify at least three evidence-based benefits of using SSPSM as part of a weight management program.

Assist weight management clients to improve knowledge of portion size, caloric amount, fat, fiber and sodium content of self-prepared meals with use of SSPSM as a template.

Assist weight management clients to transition to the use of SSPSM products to home prepared meals.
