The RDN can make a significant contribution to translational research activities - taking research findings from clinical trials and fine-tuning messages for their patients and the community. This session will focus on research projects between the Academy and the NIH National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases in which RDN's have provided significant input into shaping health and nutrition education materials for both professionals and the public. The speakers will discuss some case studies to highlight how RDNs have helped NIH develop materials, interact with attendees to help shape a message, and describe opportunities for RDNs to apply for new translational research grants.
