Developing effective programs to educate collegiate/high school athletes on relevant sports nutrition recommendations with a limited budget holds its challenges. Moreover, sports RDs can be
faced with athletes who may have the knowledge and intentions, but who lack the resources to properly fuel and hydrate. This session will inform sports RDs of the challenges and implications of
providing performance nutrition services on a budget, as well as strategies and solutions through the use of real-life case studies.Planned with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Committee
for Professional Development, in collaboration with the Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition DPG.
Identify the specific challenges that many collegiate and high school athletes face in obtaining adequate performance nutrition services on a limited budget.
Formulate ideas and strategies for overcoming these challenges after hearing the experiences of other sports RDs who have provided performance nutrition services on a limited budget.
Utilize information and tools to develop programs that provide budget-conscious performance nutrition services to collegiate and high school athletes.
