Building Blocks: Establishing Pediatric Obesity Best Practices and Standardized Care
Sunday, Oct 4, 2015
Child Health Issues
The high prevalence of childhood obesity is well-established, and pediatric RDNs must be equipped with the tools to work with this population. However, a survey distributed by the Weight
Management Dietetic Practice Group and Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group identified that practice in this area varies widely and more standardized practice is needed. In this session, speakers
will use a combination of research, evidence-based practice, and personal experience from a variety of RDNs to review best practices in the areas of visit structure, nutrition therapy, and
sustainability, including reimbursement, leaving participants with clinical pearls to easily implement into practice.
Identify areas in pediatric obesity practice which need standardization.
Translate current research into best practice in pediatric weight management treatment.
Implement evidence-based practice and standardized care into individual practice settings.
