The presenters will discuss registered dietitian nutritionists' (RDNs) current practices, perceptions, knowledge, and barriers of documenting malnutrition and performing nutrition focused physical exam (NFPE). The session will introduce a novel approach using a hands-on workshop and the 'Train the Trainer' method. The speakers will explore the methods used to teach the RDN to identify subcutaneous fat loss, muscle wasting, micronutrient deficiencies, and fluid accumulation to identify malnutrition.

Recognize the need for dietitians to become competent in performing NFPE in order to accurately diagnose malnutrition.

Identify barriers and discuss solutions to implementing NFPE into clinical practice.

Discuss the key components required for NFPE hands-on training, including the assessment of subcutaneous fat loss, muscle wasting, micronutrient deficiencies, and fluid accumulation.
